2005 Nextel Cup Series
The 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup season kept the throttle wide open over 36 races, covering ten months, ten thousand laps, and 14,000 miles of door-to-door action. Thanks to NASCAR Images, race fans can now relive the season over and over in their very own homes. NASCAR Nextel Cup 2005 is a cinema-style experience that slows down just long enough for fans to relive the excitement of one of NASCAR’s most memorable seasons. From Jeff Gordon’s season-opening Daytona 500 victory to the
ten-driver, ten-race pressure cooker of the Chase for the Nextel Cup. NASCAR Images cameras go behind the scenes and high above the action to capture the moments that powered the 2005 season from green flag to checkered. Jimmie Johnson’s dominant spring stretch, Carl Edwards’ improbable Atlanta sweep, Tony Stewart’s emotional Indianapolis victory, Dale Earnhardt Junior’s breeze through the Windy City, every scintillating win and every heartbreaking loss. The tension builds as the final ten title contenders march toward the season finale at Homestead and NASCAR legends march toward the close of their storybook careers.
2004 Nextel Cup Series
This documentary follows the high-speed action of the 2004 NASCAR season. The year saw a major change in how the driving champion was crowned. In years past, the drivers accumulated points over the course of the entire racing season, sometimes leading to the year's champion being known with many races left to go on the schedule. Starting this season, with ten races left to go, the top ten drivers were put into a playoff situation. Those ten drivers' points were reset to zero and only the points they earned in the last ten races were counted toward winning the championship.
2003 Winston Cup Series
During the late '90s and the first decade of the 21st century, NASCAR racing boomed in popularity both on television and in popular culture. This documentary tracks the events that occurred during the 2003 NASCAR competition. That was the last year the title was sponsored by Winston (the cell-phone company Nextel would take over in 2004), and it was the last year before NASCAR restructured its scoring system in order to make the competition more exciting during the last ten races of the year.
2002 Winston Cup Series
Restrictor plates and penalty controversies notwithstanding, NASCAR Winston Cup 2002 is a riveting, action-packed survey of one of the most memorable seasons in recent Winston Cup history. Opting for breadth over depth, this officially authorized DVD covers all 36 races in the Winston Cup season, from Rockingham, North Carolina, to Homestead, Florida, placing special emphasis on the Holy Grail of NASCAR, the Daytona 500. While each race is allotted only a few breathtaking
minutes apiece, the race summaries are quite thorough and the images... well, you'd have to actually drive the cars to get any closer to the action. There's racing drama everywhere, as seasoned pros like Sterling Marlin face off with younger upstarts like Jimmie Johnson and Tony Stewart--the latter being the season's ultimate champion. Multi-car pile-ups add to the thrill, along with abundant interviews, pit-lane excitement, in-cockpit cameras for virtually every driver, and crash footage that will have you reaching for a sofa seatbelt. The bonus disc, "Road to Daytona 2003," provides a thorough study of pre- and post-season development and testing, adding greater dimension and drama to the biggest race of them all. Although it's preaching to the choir, Winston Cup 2002 is thrilling enough to attract new converts to the increasingly popular world of NASCAR.
